The Theory of Time and Place according to Belief of Ibn Taymiyyah

نظرية الزمان والمكان عند ابن تيمية - أحمد عصام النجار

The Theory of Time and Place according to Belief of Ibn Taymiyyah by Ahmad ‘Issam an-Najjar.

The author said: We collect and present Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah's comprehensive vision regarding the terms “Time” and “Place”, and then we discuss the effects of that vision in his successful defence of the Sunni creed.

We present his legal evidence as well as the philosophical principles upon which Sheikh Al-Islam based his theory, such as his vision of the two types of existence: the conceptual and the external, his vision of the sequence of universal occurrences and the causes, al-qidam an-naw’i (the Major Eternity), and so on.

We also list some of the theories and suspicions of some contemporary opponents such as the Mu’tazilites and the Ash’aris, and respond to them; then we quote the consequences of their theories on doctrinal research. Indeed, the opponents have gone astray in numerous studies, based on their visions that contradicts the concepts of time and place, such as their deviation in the belief in Allah’s Attributes of Al-Uluw (Elevation) and Istiwa’ (Transcendance above the Throne), the Attributes related to Allah’s Will (as-Sifaat al-Ikhtiyaariyah), the Creation of the Universe, and so on.
