This book is part of a larger project through which the author aimed to highlight prominent hadith scholars of the second century Hijri. Due to the large number of scholars and lengthy biographies, the author divided this valuable work into two books: one covering scholars who devoted their lives and efforts purely to hadith studies, and another covering scholars who were known for both hadith and Fiqh. Each book was published in two volumes and presents biographies of 16 prominent scholars.
This is the first book focusing on scholars who combined expertise in both hadith and fiqh. For each scholar, the author provides detailed biographical information. When discussing a hadith scholar, the author carefully presents the opinions of other scholars regarding his reliability and status in hadith transmission. When covering a jurist, he includes examples of their legal opinions and rulings. The book contains a 50-page introduction describing the social, political, religious, and scholarly life of the second century Hijri. As for the biographies themselves, they are detailed and based on numerous sources. Moreover, the author includes his own annotations, verifications, and critical comments, making this book not merely a compilation but also a work of scholarly research.
