Irshad al-'Aql as-Salim - Tafsir Abi al-Su'ud (Hanafi) - 9 volumes
تفسير أبي السعود - إرشاد العقل السليم إلى مزايا الكتاب الكريم
In the introduction to his Interpretation, Abu As-Saud states that after reading "Al-Kashshaf" by Az-Zamakhshari and "Anwar At-Tanzil" by Al-Baydawi, he decided to write an interpretation that would combine the benefits of these two interpretations and add the benefits obtained from other interpretations. So he wrote this interpretation in which the eloquence and miraculousness of the Qur'an were manifested; he also mentioned the subtle benefits and wonderful wisdom indicated by each Verse and the rare rhetorical anecdotes, and he also refers to the readings and aspects of syntax and explains the meaning of the Verse accordingly, without much detail.
He also presents the jurisprudential issues learned from the Verse, and without digression alludes to the opinions of the scholars of the four religious schools of Islamic jurisprudence, but he emphasizes and favors the sayings of the Hanafi scholar.
The Interpretation comprised various points, the most notable of which were:
- His interest in revealing the eloquence of the Qur’an and the secret of its miraculousness;
- His interest in events and his familiarity with some readings;
- Lack of mentioning Isrā'īliyyāt (The word Isrā'īliyyāt refers to the stories and narratives from Jewish sources);
- His narration on some of the famous lies;
- Lack of mentioning jurisprudence issues;
- Mentioning what the Verses imply from the faces of the syntax.
Published for the first time from the author's manuscript, with a meticulous Tahqiq.
