Al-Qoudouri’s book “at-Tajrid” is the largest Islamic encyclopaedia in comparative jurisprudence. It is the first jurisprudential book that gives us a true and integrated picture of the Science of Comparative Jurisprudence (the Science of Disagreement) among Muslims. He collected the evidence of the Hanafis and defended them by all means, and also collected the evidence of the Shafi’is. The book includes jurisprudential texts of the Hanafis and Shafi’is that do not exist now in the books of the two Schools of Thought, despite their abundance.
Al-Quduri exerted all efforts to explain the doctrine of each School in the most important matters in which the difference occurred between them in the branches of jurisprudence, while examining the evidence, and the responses to the evidence of the other. He honestly expresses the spirit of tolerance and peaceful scientific discussion among all the Schools of Jurisprudence that characterize Muslim jurists, and that is evident when Al-Quduri prays for Ash-Shafi’i and his companions, not using violent words in response to them, or sarcastic words while listing their evidence.
An excellent edition verified from 4 manuscripts, and annotated in detail to provide readers with the available sources and references of the evidence and statements quoted by the Imam.
