'Amal Ahl al-Madinah 'inda al-Malikiyyah

The book “‘Uyun Al-Adillah” by Ibn al-Qassar is regarded as an original reference in the high dispute among the early jurists; and the book has a place among the works of istidlal (inference) and tarjih (giving preponderance). Many of those who came after him were influenced by his approach, whether from the Maliki scholars or others who dealt with the science of khilaf (different opinions), or those who were concerned with the rulings upon the arguments and evidence from the people of the fifth and sixth centuries. It is also considered as one of the oldest books that have reached us of jurisprudence written on the high dispute, in addition to being one of the books that gave jurisprudential care to the inference with textual and rational evidence.
In it, Ibn al-Qassar al-Maliki collected a large number of controversial issues, reaching one thousand four hundred and forty issues (1440). The author’s lengthy analysis appears in mentioning extensive discussions and responding to objections, and this may be repeated several times in the same evidence.
Many scholars’ have praised this work, which was vastly approved. Al-Shirazi said in the author’s biography: “He has a great book on issues of disagreement. I do not know of a better book on disagreement.” Abu Hamid Al-Isfaraini said about him: Your friend - meaning Ibn al-Qassar – has not left anything for someone to say.” Judge Abdul Wahhab ibn Ali ibn Nasr.
