The book "Al-Muqaddimah al-Izziyah for the Azhar Community", by the scholar and jurist Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalaf al-Manufi al-Masri al-Shadhili al-Maliki (857-939 AH / 1453-1532 AD), is a text on Maliki jurisprudence. It is an abridged version of his book "Umdat al-Salik ala Madhhab al-Imam Malik" (The Support of the Traveler on the School of Imam Malik). The book consists of eleven chapters on acts of worship: including purification, prayer, zakat, fasting, i'tikaf, Hajj, sacrifice, expiations, and slaughter. It also includes chapters on transactions such as the eighth chapter, which is devoted to the rulings of marriage and divorce, and the ninth chapter on sales. The tenth chapter deals with inheritance, and finally, the eleventh chapter explains some general rules of obligations, Sunnahs, and manners.
In addition to the book "Al-Muqaddimah al-Izziyah", Abu al-Hasan al-Manufi has other works on Maliki jurisprudence, perhaps the most prominent of which is his book in which he explained the "Risala of Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani" entitled: "Kifayat al-Talib al-Rabbani ala Risalat Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani" (Sufficiency of the Devout Student on the Epistle of Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani).
Since al-Manufi authored "Al-Muqaddimah al-Izziyah", scholars have been keen on explaining, commenting on, and even versifying it.
