Jami' al-Ummahat aw Mukhtasar ibn al-Hajib al-Far'i is a book on Maliki jurisprudence in which the author (Ibn Al Hajib) compiled a collection of jurisprudence issues and its branches summarized from the statements of the Maliki scholars and their famous books. He said: “When I was writing my book, I used to collect the famous books on jurisprudence, then write their content in a brief wording, and then compile it in a book until it was completed.” Some scholars who have studied the book mentioned that Ibn Al-Hajib had summarized his book from sixty books, and that it includes sixty-six thousand jurisprudence issues.
The praise for the book has been widespread in and outside the Maliki School of jurisprudence, and suffices here the testimony of Kamal al-Din al-Zamalkawi Ash-Shafi'i, who said: «The Shafi'i School does not possess something similar to the Malikis’ abridged book of Ibn Al Hajib”, and this testimony suffices enough as stated by Ibn Farhun.
Imam Ibn Daqeeq al-Eid said: "This book came with the wonder of wonders! The author hoped for a masterpiece work and his prayer was answered. He contented with the hardest of purposes; he brightly displayed and expressed his thoughts in his words in the most excellent manner.”
