This book is entitled “Mafhum Ahl Sunnah Wal Jama’ah bayna Sheikh Al-Islam ibn Taymiyyah wa Ahl Al-Ifrat wa Tafreet” by Author Adel bin Muhammad al-Shamiri. In this book, the author discusses issues where concepts vary between exaggeration and negligence; indeed much has been said about it, and disputes have been intensified between many of those affiliated with Ahlu Sunnah wal-Jama`ah.
The book includes many important chapters and sub-chapters. One of the chapters tackles the issue of: Do Ahlu Sunnah believe that Takfir and Tafsiq is Allah’s Right only? Ahlu Sunnah do not bind people to the opinions they adopt from the sources of Ijtihād. This book is distinguished by its extensive presentation of the issues of the principles of I’tiqād, through explanation, thoroughness and Ta’sil (reference to the basic principles of Islamic Shari’ah).
Ibn Taymiyyah is one of the Scholars who embraced the doctrine of the Salaf and the successors of this Ummah. Ahlu Sunnah follow a middle course among the sects related to Islam; they believe in pure Islam, the religion of moderation.
This is a beneficial study for students of knowledge so that they do not fall into excessiveness (Ifrāt) and do not fall into negligence (Tafrit). Rather, they follow the truth that was explained by one of the trusted well-versed scholars, who is an authority in the doctrines of the predecessors and successors.
