Tafsir al-Hakimi (Talkhis ad-Durar) - AbdulHamid Al-Hakimi (514H)
تفسير الحاكمي المسمى تخليص الدرر - عبد الحميد بن عبد المجيد الحاكمي
Tafsir al-Hakimi, i. e. Talkhis ad-Durar by al-'Allamah Abdul Hamid bin Abdul Majid Al-Hakimi
This is a medium-sized Tafsir being published for the first time, addressing only the most important interpretations of the verses, written by the scholar Abdul Hamid bin Abdul Majid Al-Hakimi, who lived in the sixth century AH. The book's title reflects its content. Al-Hakimi extracted the "pearls of interpretation" from sources he divided into two categories: The first category comprises 4 books he considered foundational Tafsirs which are no longer extant today - this being one of the book's distinctive features. The second category, which he called subsidiary Tafsirs, consists of the well-known commentaries available today.
Ahmad Ibn Faris Al-Fallum edited the book using a unique manuscript. He provided a biography of Al-Hakimi and explained his ideas, methodology, and sources. The commentary style is concise while addressing aspects of Qur'anic recitations, circumstances of revelation, abrogating and abrogated verses, meanings, and obscure vocabulary. The editor added numerous useful footnotes.
A scholarly edition based on a manuscript, including referencing and authentication of the Hadiths.
